LWM is a dynamic and ambitious company wholly owned by Lichfield District Council, serving over 100,000 residents across our beautiful district in the heart of England. We're proud to deliver essential services with passion, purpose, and professionalism. Our team is committed to excellence, and we’re on the lookout for talented individuals to help drive our growth and deliver vibrant, engaging experiences for our community.
Lichfield District is renowned for the events it holds throughout the year, from food festivals to Proms in the Park and the annual business Beacon Awards.
The role
We’re looking for a hands-on, highly organised Events & Communications Manager with a true passion for creating, planning, and delivering memorable events. This is a unique opportunity to shape and drive an ambitious events programme that brings people together and celebrates everything our district has to offer.
You'll lead on the planning and execution of events and festivals, from small civic functions to large-scale public experiences. You’ll collaborate with internal teams, community partners, and external organisations to ensure every event is safe, successful, and spectacular.
You’ll be a part of the central Marketing and Communications team who lead the communications, tourism and events programmes on behalf of Lichfield District Council.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of the council’s annual events programme.
- Lead on the communications and successful marketing plans of events throughout the year.
- Oversee a range of events including civic occasions, community festivals, and council-led public events.
- Develop and promote sponsorship opportunities for events.
- Manage bookings, permissions, licenses, risk assessments, and insurance for all events.
- Act as the main point of contact for commercial and community event organisers.
- Ensure all events meet the council’s policies, safety standards, and strategic goals.
- Promote Lichfield as a premier events destination to attract organisers and visitors alike.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with partners, suppliers, and local businesses.
- Work closely with other council departments to align activities and logistics.
- Manage event budgets and seek opportunities for revenue generation.
- Supervise casual staff, volunteers, and tour guides where required.
- Produce and implement marketing and communications plans in collaboration with the communications team.
- Support the delivery of civic and ceremonial events, providing on-the-day coordination and hospitality.
- Evaluate event performance, collect feedback, and recommend improvements.
