We are open to speaking with ideally Principal / Senior or Experienced Overhead Line Design Engineers in relation to exploring future opportunities in line with our growth strategy to join our Transmission & Distribution team, with roles based in any of our UK offices.

As an Overhead Line Design Engineer within our team, you will be involved in delivering a wide range of OHL projects – producing and reviewing technical documents in line with industry standards. This varied role includes developing design criteria, conductor and structure type selection, insulation coordination, and lightning performance assessments.

You will develop typical OHL design deliverables such as line schedules, plan / profile drawings, staking tables, and special crossings design. Conduct feasibility studies to assess technical and economic viability, and coordinate with other disciplines (civil, structural) to ensure project integrity.

About You

You should ideally have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering, or relevant industry experience from a hands-on / construction background. CEng, IEng registration, or working towards registration is beneficial.

Experience as an Overhead Line Design Engineer or similar role on Transmission and Distribution projects is required. Preferably, you will have worked for a Design Consultant, Design / Build Contractor, or Asset Owner. Proficiency in PLS-CADD for new and modified OHL designs, and familiarity with UK design standards are essential.

Additional understanding of T&D disciplines such as HV Plant or HV Cable design, or T&D Civil design, is advantageous. Experience managing OHL deliverables and workload across multiple projects is also desirable.
