About the Role

Reporting to the Water Project Management Delivery Lead for the UK, your role as Senior Project Manager will involve delivering projects with water companies or the Environment Agency, mainly in the Midlands, with opportunities to work in the North West of England. There may also be progression opportunities across UK water, environment, rail, or nuclear sectors.

The ideal candidate will have experience in pre- and post-contract management using NEC 3 or NEC 4 ECC forms and procurement within the UK water, environment, rail, or nuclear sectors. You should utilize your project experience to drive efficiencies, supply chain engagement, and effective contract management.

Experience with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and / or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI) in design and build major capital programmes is also desirable.

Role Responsibilities

General

  • Manage NEC3 / 4 contracts (Options A, C, E) on the client side
  • Control project budgets
  • Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors on payment valuations and certification
  • Forecast costs and determine defined costs with QS
  • Maintain productive relationships with stakeholders
  • Keep accurate project and commercial records
  • Draft contractual communications, notices, and manage contractual issues
  • Pre-Contract Activities

  • Conduct project scope planning, cost estimates, and feasibility studies
  • Prepare and evaluate tenders
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate early with contractors during design
  • Post-Contract Activities

  • Manage construction contracts
  • Monitor expenditure and cash flow
  • Evaluate and negotiate change orders
  • Handle claims and disputes
  • Conduct final accounts and post-project reviews
  • What We Need from You

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Full membership of a chartered body such as APM at MAPM
  • Extensive postgraduate experience in Rail, Nuclear, Water, or Environment sectors
  • Line management and recruitment experience of project managers or assistants
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations
  • Risk management experience
  • Valid CSCS card; Water Hygiene Card desirable
  • Experience with main contractors or joint ventures on the client side
  • Site presence and co-location minimum 3 days / week
  • Proficiency with NEC3 / 4 contracts (A-C-E)
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • This role is subject to client interview and acceptance
