Job description

Recruitment Consultant (CertRP) / PE Global / Connecting people with the right opportunities

PE Global is recruiting a CNC Machinist for our oil and gas client based in Middleton, Manchester. The role is an initial 3-month contract with the potential to become permanent, depending on the candidate's suitability.

Work Schedule :

  • Early & Afternoon shifts : Mon to Thu 06 : 00-14 : 00 / 14 : 00-22 : 00, Fri 06 : 00-12 : 00 / 12 : 00-18 : 00
  • Night shift : Mon to Thu 22 : 00-06 : 00, Fri 18 : 00-00 : 00

Responsibilities

  • Produce quality parts on CNC machines efficiently and safely.
  • Perform setup changes, operate machines, and conduct first article inspections.
  • Load parts using overhead lifting equipment, verify programs, operate controls, set offsets, make simple edits, de-burr, and inspect parts for quality.
  • Identify potential problems before production, monitor machine operation, and adjust controls as needed.
  • Read engineering drawings, use precision measuring instruments, and interpret job orders to determine dimensions and tooling requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of tooling dimensions and tolerances, including feed rates, cutting speeds, and depth of cut.
  • Keep work area clean and perform basic preventative maintenance.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the business and ensure compliance with Quality and HSE policies.
  • Travel as required.

    • Requirements

  • Time-served apprenticeship in CNC machining, equivalent to City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3.
  • Experience operating various CNC machines.
  • Experience working in a high-productivity machine shop environment.
  • Manual handling, slinging, and lifting skills.
  • ONC / HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Manual machining and multi-axis CNC machining experience.
  • CNC programming knowledge on Mazatrol and Fanuc controls.

    • Note : PE Global cannot assist with sponsorship. Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK for at least the next 12 months.
