Ocean Winds (OW) is an international company dedicated to offshore wind energy, created as a 50 : 50 joint venture owned by EDP Renewables and Engie. OW operates the UK’s largest offshore wind farm, Moray East (950MW), and is finalizing Moray West (882MW). Its UK portfolio also includes Caledonia (2GW) and Arven (a 2.3GW floating offshore wind project) developed with Mainstream Renewable Power. Caledonia has submitted planning consent applications and now seeks a Lead Grid and Transmission Engineer to manage electrical design from concept through to connection, including engagement with NESO and TO, ensuring Grid Code compliance. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the UK’s net-zero targets by delivering the Caledonia project.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Lead Grid and Transmission Engineer will lead the electrical system design for Caledonia, ensuring compliance with industry codes like the Grid Code and SQSS. Responsibilities include developing electrical specifications for cables, substations, and SCADA systems, managing Bilateral Connection and Construction Agreements, and liaising with NESO and TO.
