SEND Support Assistant – Primary (Long-Term Opportunity)

Location : Harlow Green Area | Full-Time | Immediate Start | Competitive Daily Rate

Protocol Education is working closely with a supportive and inclusive primary school in the Harlow Green area to recruit a dedicated SEND Support Assistant . This role involves providing 1 : 1 support for a Year 3 pupil with an EHCP . The child presents with challenging behaviour and requires a consistent, understanding adult to help them navigate the school day and access learning.

Contract Details :

Duration : Until the end of the academic year (July)

Future Opportunities : High likelihood of continuation due to ongoing EHCP funding

Role Responsibilities :

Deliver 1 : 1 support for a Year 3 pupil with additional needs and challenging behaviour

Implement tailored strategies in line with the pupil’s EHCP

Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt approaches as needed

Use de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support to manage challenging situations

Create a nurturing environment that supports both emotional and academic development

Ideal Candidate :

Experience supporting children with SEND and managing challenging behaviour

Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques

Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach

Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a wider team

Familiarity with EHCPs and experience in a mainstream primary setting (desirable)

A valid DBS (on the Update Service or willing to obtain one)
