Learning Support Assistant

A compassionate and hard working Learning Support Assistant is required for a lovely secondary school in Newcastle This is a long term role to start asap. Suitable candidates will preferably have experience of working with students who have Challenging Behaviours and or other SEND needs (e.g. ADHD, Autism, ADD). You will need to be proactive in your approach to working with students and be encouraging, energetic, engaging and supportive.

You must hold a Teaching Assistant or Youth Work qualification and have a willingness to work with children with SEN needs to overcome barriers to their learning.

The school is dedicated to getting the best out of every pupil, encouraging positive relationships and a personal learning approach.

The school is mixed sex and has supportive and friendly staff and managers.

The ideal candidate would :

• Have a passion supporting children with SEN needs
• Have excellent subject knowledge
• Be able to organise themselves
• Be able to engage with children with SEN in a proactive way

Although a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification is not essential, it is desirable and we can signpost you to training providers to enhance your skills.
