We are seeking a passionate and committed English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Braintree. This full-time, permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire students and foster a love for literature, language, and creative expression.

As an English Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and structured lessons, equipping students with essential skills in communication, critical analysis, and written expression. Working within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment, you will help students build confidence in English and achieve their academic potential at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

This role is ideal for an experienced educator or an ambitious teacher looking to develop their career in a progressive and inclusive school. While prior experience is preferred, professional development opportunities will be available.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
  • Teach literature, language, and writing skills at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Inspire students to think critically, articulate their ideas, and engage with a variety of texts.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and targeted support.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the English curriculum and develop innovative teaching strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages independent learning.
  • Prepare students for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare of all students.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong knowledge of the English curriculum, including GCSE and A-Level standards.
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting is preferred.
  • A passion for delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
