Business Analyst – Markets Transformation (Belfast)

Location : Belfast

Function : Business Analysis / Project Delivery

This role sits within a Markets Transformation Team focused on the timely delivery of technical, data-centric initiatives across the organization. It is well-suited for a Business Analyst with experience in data analysis, project delivery, and a solid understanding of financial markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the onboarding of critical datasets, working closely with Technology and Business stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with strategic data and regulatory goals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Support Senior Project Managers in onboarding critical datasets into a centralized, strategic data-lake.
  • Take ownership of project workstreams—tracking deliverables, dependencies, risks, and milestones accurately.
  • Collaborate with Technology and Business teams to shape and review strategic data models.
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to data governance standards and access controls.
  • Use SQL or Python to validate dataset implementations, support QA, and assist the business during UAT.
  • Lead or participate in workshops, working groups, and stakeholder meetings to gather requirements and translate them into actionable project plans.
  • Manage internal and external dependencies, maintaining strong coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactively identify challenges and escalate issues or risks in a timely, well-structured manner.
  • Prepare concise and insightful project materials for stakeholder updates, steering committees, and governance forums.
  • Build effective relationships across teams to drive collaboration and ensure successful program execution.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • Solid knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Experience working with large datasets and supporting data migration or integration initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Proven ability to manage and track multiple technical deliverables in a dynamic environment.
  • Confident working across business and technical teams with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with the full project lifecycle, particularly within data or transformation programs.
  • Working knowledge of financial instruments such as Stocks, Bonds, and Derivatives.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with regulatory projects (e.g., Volcker, FRTB, SACCR, Basel).
  • Working knowledge of Tableau and / or Python (not essential but beneficial).
  • Exposure to data governance frameworks and enterprise-level data solutions.
