The Post

The Audiology service in Orkney is currently a single-handed service offering a wide range of services to our local community. We are developing the service and looking towards succession planning for the future of the department. This post is to work with the current Chief Audiologist, with a view to taking over the management of the service. As well as running the service it is expected that the post holder will look at the service model going forwards and work with the current post holder to develop a service that is able to meet the requirements of the community in the future. The post holder will work with the national Audiology leads in development of the service nationally and to review current practice.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the current post holder to develop the service and to ensure that the community of Orkney have an Audiology service that meets their needs, now and into the future.

The Candidate

You must be a forward thinking and dynamic leader who is ready to work to deliver a well-established audiology service and be ready to look to the future. Be able to work with services in Orkney and Grampian, both NHS and the voluntary sector, to ensure the service is delivered in its current form and to develop the service for the future. You will be expected to work autonomously when needed in managing the service.

Location, Working Pattern and Contract Duration :

This post will be based at The Balfour

The successful candidate will work : 37 hours per week

This post is on a Full-time Permanent Basis

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.

The salary for this post is on a Band 7 and if residing on Orkney, you’ll also receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,587 pro rata per year, adding extra value to your rewarding career with us.
