Job Title : Assistant Project Manager

Location : Thurso

Job Purpose

A vacancy exists within the Reactors Programme for an Assistant Project Manager. The role supports the safe and effective delivery of multi-disciplinary tasks and projects. The job holder will assist the Project Manager in developing and implementing decommissioning projects, contributing to successful and compliant outcomes.

The candidate will produce project documentation such as reports, specifications, project management documents, Dounreay Modification Reports, and safe systems of work. Experience in creating such documents is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, managing or progressing work packages and small projects using initiative.

Main Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of project management strategies and adapt plans as needed.
• Assist in developing and maintaining the programme baseline.
• Liaise with stakeholders for safe and timely project delivery.
• Monitor performance against safety, cost, schedule, and quality criteria; identify deviations and suggest corrective actions.
• Prepare project handover documentation and support the handover process.
• Manage projects within the site’s safety case constraints.
• Identify and report problems and incidents, determine root causes, and implement solutions.
• Coordinate with Works Control Centres for resource availability.
• Participate in site emergency exercises.
• Fulfill management responsibilities relevant to the role.
• Line manage staff as required.
