Job description

Job Overview :

We are seeking a skilled Unix System Administrator to join an IT infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Unix-based systems and servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support infrastructure needs and provide technical expertise to end-users.

Key Responsibilities :

System Management :

  • Install, configure, and maintain Unix / Linux-based systems and servers.
  • Monitor system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Perform regular system upgrades, patches, and security updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues promptly.

Security & Compliance :

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration & Support :

  • Work closely with network, applications, and other IT teams to support infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and IT staff.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Qualifications & Skills :

    Must-Have :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Unix / Linux System Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Unix / Linux OS and command-line tools.
  • Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Nice-to-Have :

  • Certifications in Unix / Linux administration (e.g., RHCE, LPIC).
  • Familiarity with scripting (Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Knowledge of virtualization / cloud platforms (VMware, AWS, Azure).
