Division – Finance and Projects

Location – Manchester

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE :

  • As part of AG's Insolvency Dispute Resolution team (IDR Team) (which sits within the market-leading Restructuring Group), you will work alongside an international team of insolvency dispute resolution specialists.
  • Your work will focus on the full range of domestic and cross border financial and commercial insolvency specific disputes as well as general financial litigation in an insolvency context working with insolvency practitioners, lenders, financial institutions, litigation funders and corporate clients, providing pragmatic, commercial and innovative advice.

  • Our Restructuring team has enviable positions on all the major bank panels and benefits from excellent relationships with the restructuring and insolvency specialists at the market's leading accountancy firms and agents.
  • With established Restructuring teams across the UK, the national team has 14 Partners and more than 45 specialist restructuring and insolvency lawyers.
  • This dedicated resource (which few of our competitors can genuinely match) offers a full service across the entire spectrum of restructuring and insolvency assignments - in a broad range of sectors.
  • WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE :

  • We would now like to recruit a lawyer into our team in Manchester. Our ideal candidate will have one to two years of contentious restructuring and insolvency litigation experience.
  • You can expect to get involved in :
  • Supporting the partners and senior colleagues in connection with contentious insolvency mandates and restructuring advice.
  • Advising insolvency practitioners, lenders and other stakeholders in connection with contentious issues arising in relation to administrations, liquidations and CVA's.
  • Advising the major clearing banks and alternative lenders in connection with the recovery of secured or unsecured debt and guarantee liabilities
  • Advising directors in connection with their own obligations in the context of an under-performing business.
  • Pursuing applications under the Insolvency Act and Rules and conducting or defending litigation in the High Court under CPR7 and CPR8.
  • Providing specialist support to our Commercial Dispute Resolution teams.
  • Various Business Development activities, with a significant amount of client contact.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • You will have an excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2 : 1 degree
  • At least one year of contentious restructuring and insolvency litigation experience gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level
  • A clear understanding and working experience of the operation and structure of a leading law firm and the needs of the clients of a top flight team.
  • Have a commercial flair and acumen and are excited by growth and new ideas.
  • Are details focussed, self-motivated and proactive, and confident in building enduring relationships with clients that are based on trust and high-quality service delivery.
