Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive and hardworking Estates Maintenance Assistant to support the smooth operation of our hospital facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Main duties of the job

What You’ll Do

Carry out semi-skilled maintenance tasks across hospital sites

Conduct plant room checks and monitor essential systems

Assist technicians and engineers with maintenance and repair work

Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards

What We’re Looking For

Basic knowledge of maintenance tasks (electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or building services)

Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Willingness to learn and develop within an NHS Estates team

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

Drainage Services & Maintenance Checks – Maintain all drainage systems and carry out planned maintenance tasks

Semi-Skilled Maintenance – Assist with general upkeep and minor repairs

Support Technicians – Work alongside skilled professionals to complete essential maintenance tasks

Shift Work & Flexibility – Participate in a rotating shift system, including late shifts & weekends

Workplace Housekeeping – Ensure cleanliness and organization in workshops, stores, and working areas

Job Docket Completion – Accurately record and complete maintenance jobs in a timely manner

Team Support & KPIs – Help meet team targets, including the number of jobs completed per day

Health & Safety Commitment – Promote and maintain safe working practices for yourself and others

Customer Care & Trust Values – Provide excellent service and uphold the trust’s values in every aspect of your work

Flexibility – Adapt to overtime and changing work hours as needed

Qualifications And Experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous building maintenance experience
  • IT Competent

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of drainage systems
  • Basic Plumbing knowledge
  • First aid training
  • Level 2 trade qualification
  • NHS experience

    Desirable criteria

  • To have previous NHS experience
  • To have previous experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Communication Skills

    Essential criteria

  • Level 2 literacy and numeracy
