Senior Critical Facilities Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Critical Facilities Engineer to lead within our team, utilizing your technical expertise to guide and develop others. You will support your supervisors, lead by example, and serve as a technical coach.

Your main responsibilities include maintaining and ensuring the technical operation of all key infrastructure within Equinix Data Centres, ensuring timely preventive and corrective maintenance. You will work closely with subcontractors and serve as a technical reference for your team.

This is a 24 / 7 shift position, including nights.

What will you do?

  • Facility Infrastructure Maintenance : Ensure seamless operation through diligent maintenance practices.
  • Site Inspections & Monitoring : Conduct inspections and monitor alarms for optimal performance.
  • Preventative Maintenance : Oversee and perform preventative maintenance, manage vendor activities, and handle permit systems.
  • Repairs & Corrective Maintenance : Perform repairs on critical equipment to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Planned Maintenance : Prepare and execute maintenance activities to ensure infrastructure reliability.
  • Documentation : Maintain logs, MOPs, and scripts.
  • Incident Response : Assist in incident response and handle basic incidents based on your expertise.
  • Work Requests & Installations : Complete work requests and circuit installations efficiently.
  • Infrastructure Projects : Participate in projects to improve facilities.
  • Works Projects : Execute site improvement projects.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution : Analyze logs and use diagnostic tools to resolve power, cooling, or hardware / software issues.

Who are you?

  • Educational Background : ONC / BTEC / NVQ or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience : Prior experience in data centers or similar industries.
  • Technical Knowledge : Deep understanding of UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, life safety systems; HV switching experience (HVAP preferred).
  • Personal Attributes : Self-motivated, flexible, able to work independently or in teams, willing to work shifts (days, nights, weekends).
