Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dynamic andmotivated Highly Specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapist or AppliedPsychologist or to join Durham and Darlington Child and Adolescent MentalHealth Service at an exciting time of service successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the clinical leadership team across our Getting Help Services including the Getting Help Team and Mental Health Support Teams in Schools. You will provide direct clinical work with children, young people and their families alongside supervision, consultation and training to other members of the team and play a key role in continuing to develop integrated working within the service. Applicants should have significant experience of delivering psychological informed interventions to children experiencing a range of mental health problems. Additionally, applicants must already be qualified in cognitive behavioural therapy and accredited with BABCP and also qualified / trained in clinical supervision. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to have the necessary skills and experience to undertake direct clinical work with children and families, provide clinical supervision, advice, consultation and training to other members of the service, and will play a key role in continuing to develop the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working of the team. Service development ideas and innovation in the role are encouraged and welcomed. The successful candidate will be under the support and guidance of a Consultant Psychologist within the wider CAMHS service.

About us

The post will cover Durham and Darlington CAMHS Getting Help Services including the Getting Help Team and Mental Health Support Teams in Schools. Experience of working with young people and families is important, as well as the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with our multi-agency partner organisations. We are keen to support the ongoing development of psychological professionals through training and CPD opportunities. The post holder will receive regular supportive supervision and work closely with psychology colleagues across the wider psychology team in CAMHS.

There is a well-established and supportive Psychological Professions Network within the wider Durham and Darlington Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services supported by a highly motivated team of senior managers and clinical leads. Strong links exist between the service and local training courses in clinical psychology, counselling psychology and psychological therapy. Applied Psychology is highly valued within the Trust with good professional support. Leadership skills and behaviours are integral to the recruitment process. Job responsibilities

The postholder will provide behavioural and cognitive psychological interventions to children with a range of mental health difficulties. They will work within a multidisciplinary team, carry their own caseload and provide expert supervision within the CBT framework. They will undertake risk assessment and risk management. Provide advice and support to carers / families about a clients care and management of presenting problems. They will also be expected to provide senior clinical leadership and service development across all aspects of the service. Psychologists & Psychological Therapists provide key leadership roles within the Trust. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Post doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Trained in care co-ordination
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Registration with BPS

    Essential

  • Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across a range of care settings or if applying at Band 7 experience of working within mental health
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator within the context of a multidisciplinary team
  • Teaching, training and clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses
  • Research and development
