Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

We are delighted to be able to invite consultants to apply to work with us within the dynamic Respiratory department in Scarborough.

This is an exciting time to join the Respiratory Medicine department as we further develop our sub-specialty interests and expand our inpatient services into a new purpose built Acute and Emergency Care unit due to open in 2024. Any sub-specialty preference would be welcomed, and we would be happy to support a successful applicant in developing a service in their area of interest.

The department currently provides a variety of general respiratory services from the Scarborough site including Lung Cancer, Airways Disease, Sleep and ILD. We are committed to improving our performance through a range of innovations and are seeking colleagues who are inspired to drive through service change and achieve improvements in outcomes for our patients.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who will work well within our diverse and friendly team to develop inpatient and outpatient services. In line with service provision discussions, there may be scope for additional programmed activities, which will be clarified during the recruitment process for potential candidates.

We welcome whole-time, part-time or job share applications and we are committed to supporting flexible job plans and will work with you to mutually agree your activity commitment. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the General Medicine on-call rota. We are also developing proposals to accommodate cross site working within the Trust in certain sub-specialties.
