What this job involves :

This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career and join our growing Planning team in the North West based out of the Manchester office! JLL is a leading global real estate company with over 40 town planning specialists in five locations across the UK. We act for a number of high profile clients including some of the UK’s major land owners, developers and occupiers. We work across various sectors including :

  • industrial and logistics;
  • residential (including Build to Rent, student accommodation and later living);
  • development and regeneration (including retail, city centre development, the public sector); and
  • education and healthcare;
  • alternative development.

As such, in this role, you will have exposure to an extensive breadth of planning work. Examples of our planning work can be found here :

What your day-to-day will look like :

  • Supporting senior colleagues to progress projects from inception to completion
  • Carrying out baseline research to support site appraisals and contribute to the feasibility and development potential of sites
  • Making enquiries to local planning authorities and other sources, using excellent verbal communication skills
  • Preparing planning appraisals to establish the development potential of sites
  • Undertaking independent planning policy and planning history research
  • Undertaking site visits and attending client meetings
  • Provide data support, analysis and orderly presentation of research
  • Preparing and submitting pre-application enquiries
  • Preparing and submitting minor planning applications including the drafting of Planning Statements
  • Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders involved in the planning process
  • Desired or preferred experience and technical skills :

  • A recently qualified chartered town planner, or due to qualify soon
  • Member or working towards membership or Licentiate of the Royal Town Planning Institute
  • Demonstrate relevant experience working as a Town Planner
  • Have a good understanding and knowledge of the town planning system
  • Have excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Have strong planning and organisational skills
  • Have time and workload management skills
  • Have strong motivation to learn
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team
