Your new role In your new role, you will act as a technical interface for customers and subcontractors, identifying and understanding their needs. You will capture and manage engineering requirements, developing innovative solutions to meet these needs. You will create and manage system budgets, such as power and mass budgets, and analyse performance to justify design decisions. You will oversee various engineering disciplines during design, integration, and testing, planning and executing test campaigns. You will troubleshoot hardware and software issues for space missions, analyse test data, and compile reports. Additionally, you will provide clear and thorough documentation and ensure the delivery of verified flight equipment that meets customer specifications. What you'll need to succeed As the successful candidate, you will be enthusiastic about space exploration, keen to solve complex challenges, and a committed team player who proactively shares knowledge, and you will bring over two years of experience in the design, manufacture, and testing of complex technological systems, with a background in optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies. You will be able to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills. You will be familiar with formal configuration control methods and have knowledge of qualifications and acceptance of environmental testing. You will have experience of developing test specifications, plans, and procedures. Additionally, you will have experience with optic design software like Zemax or OpticStudio, including familiarity with ECSS standards, and experience working with systems designed for space environments. Ideally, you will also have experience with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB / C or C++, with hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, and testing. You will possess good analytical skills for identifying root cause issues, be able to define test cases to expose problems and develop robust solutions, and be flexible in understanding the need for change due to business re-focus. You will be willing to travel to other locations for project delivery, able to plan and execute assigned work on schedule, be detail-oriented, and able to clearly communicate tasks, schedules, and priorities with team members.
