Learning Support Assistant – Early Years Foundation Stage in Tameside

Cover people are recruiting enthusiastic and committed learning support assistants to work in Early Years Foundation Stage settings in Tameside.

In this role you will make an difference and impact to children’s lives and education. Your support and work will help ensure the children can thrive in a positive and caring environment.

Key responsibilities :

• Provide Individualised Support : work closely with students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis to support their learning and development.
• Assist in Classroom Settings : Support teaching staff to implement classroom activities and adapt learning materials to the needs of the children.
• Behaviour management : Promote positive behaviour and ensure children are engaged with learning through using positive behaviour strategies.
• Develop children’s independence : Encourage and support children to develop their personal and academic skills, building their confidence and independence.
• Collaborate with a team : Work with the class teacher, special education needs coordinator (SENCO) and other staff to provide a holistic approach to supporting children.
• Monitor and record progress : Monitor and record progress of students, sharing this with the class teacher and relevant staff.
• Provide emotional support : Build respectful and trusting relationships offering emotional and behavioural support where needed.

Key Requirements :

Experience working with young people : Previous experience of working with children or young people as a teaching assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker, or in a similar role is essential. Experience working with young people with SEN is not essential but desirable.

Passion for Education : A genuine and strong desire to work in education and support children and young people to achieve their full potential.

Strong Communication Skills : The ability to communicate effectively with children and young people, parents and carers, and colleagues, with empathy and patience.

Ability to Work as Part Of a Team : Collaboration with teachers, specialists and other support staff is key to ensuring effective support for children.

Flexibility and Adaptability : You will need to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the children.

Relevant Qualifications : While not essential, any qualifications in supporting children with SEN, teaching assistant training, or behaviour management would be an advantage.
