Job description

Technical Staffing Resources (TSR) are the in-house agency and master vendor for KBR who are a leading global engineering, construction, and services company.

KBR support the hydrocarbon and government services markets on six continents. Serving their customers through diverse business units, KBR offer challenging assignments on some of the world's largest and most complex projects.

Position Description

  • Diver is responsible to the Dive Supervisor for ensuring that all Reactive & Planned Diving & Maritime works are carried out in accordance with HSE health and safety requirements, time & budgetary constraints.
  • Keeps all diving, and associated, qualifications up to date.
  • Ensure all Dive Team members do not take risks / short cuts and encourage safe working practices by setting good examples and effective operational / production methods.

Core Duties

The role holder will :

  • Delivery of daily planned and reactive Diving & Maritime Works in accordance with appropriate specifications
  • Ensure that they comply with all requirements contained within company Dive Manual (CP 4.9.75)
  • Ensure compliance to Diving at Work Regulations 1997 & ACoP’s L104
  • Carry out all tasks in a safe and professional manner and must follow all reasonable instructions given by the Dive Supervisor / Assistant Dive Supervisor
  • Compliance with all company HSE health and safety and quality requirements
  • Ensure Personal Dive Log is kept up to date and countersigned by the Dive Supervisor
  • Ensure Certificate of Medical Fitness is “in–date” and reasonable maintain them self in a state of fitness to carry out diving duties.
  • Conduct them self in a professional manner at all times
  • Functional Knowledge

    The role holder will

  • Be qualified to and hold a HSE Part 3 Surface Supplied Certification (minimum) or equivalent (Part 1 preferred)
  • Hold a valid, in-date First Aid at Work Certificate and be competent to manage medical emergencies
  • Will be medically in-date
  • Have a sound understanding of the theory and practice of diving and will be competent to carry out safely the work they may be called upon to perform
  • The diver must have adequate practical and theoretical knowledge and experience of the diving techniques to be used.
  • Will be PC literate
  • Business Expertise

    The role holder will :

  • Experience of working in large, complex environments, ideally for an MoD, RN or commercial contract
  • Complies with corporate and statutory requirements associated with role.
  • Knowledge of Base protocols to ensure safe dives.
  • Have an understanding of the HASAW Act, the management of the HASAW Regulations 1999, and other relevant legislative and procedural requirements.
  • Leadership

  • Provides advice and support to line managers with regard to specialist or operational matters.
  • Supportive team member and will provide professional support to other members of the dive team as required.
  • Problem Solving

    The role holder requires :

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in processes, in working practices and team efficiency, working with others to make this happen
  • Will comply with relevant diving and SHE requirements when making decisions before, during and after dives.

  • Working as part of dive team will take responsibility for ensuring work is carried out in a safe manner not to endanger self or other team members whilst completing dive works in compliance with customer requests.
