About the role

North Somerset Council is pleased to offer a full-time permanent opportunity for a Safeguarding Adults Officer as part of a remodelling of our safeguarding adults service. The post is open to registered health or social care professionals with experience of safeguarding adults work.

We also welcome applications from newly qualified social workers, commencing at level 7 progressing to level 8 on completion of ASYE.

You will work in a supportive team that leads the local authority response to safeguarding adults concerns. The successful applicant will, under the supervision of the safeguarding adults manager and senior safeguarding adults officers, coordinate the local authority response to safeguarding adults concerns through making S.42(1) decisions and undertaking S.42(2) safeguarding adults enquiries.

About you

Are you passionate about promoting people’s rights and strengths while protecting adults at risk from abuse? If so, this post may be for you.

You may be a newly qualified or experienced social worker, nurse or other registered allied health professional seeking a role for up to full time hours. Experience in safeguarding adults work is essential although this may have been gained through student placements. You will receive support to develop the skills to become an expert in this area of work.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
