Role - Electrical Senior Design Engineer

Location - Warrington (Other locations may be considered)

Purpose of the role : As an Electrical Senior Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the Engineering Design Team, working closely with Principal Engineers, Design Teams, and Managers to deliver high-quality designs in compliance with GT processes, BMS, and H&S Regulations. This technical role requires expertise in design delivery within the water and wastewater industry. You may also have line management responsibilities for other design engineers.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Ensuring technical compliance and quality of design outputs.
  • Leading discipline-specific projects.
  • Seeking optimal, cost-effective design solutions.
  • Supporting CDM regulation compliance.
  • Designing for buildability, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Adhering to procedural governance.
  • Ensuring designs meet client specifications and standards.
  • Promoting innovation, value engineering, and digital design.
  • Solving technical problems throughout project lifecycle.
  • Supporting pre-contract design activities.
  • Sharing lessons learned and mentoring junior staff.

Candidate requirements :

  • Proficiency in ETAP for HV & LV modelling, including protection studies, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD / Draftsight.
  • Experience in generating electrical installation packs, layouts, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of C&G - BS wiring regulations, NICEIC certificates, and HV standards.
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Significant experience in water and wastewater industries.
  • Chartered status preferred.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary water engineering design.
  • Experience with design checking, subcontractor review, and compliance with standards.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • IT skills including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and performance management systems.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively or independently.
