SEN TUTOR

Location : Oldbury

Pay : £30-32 per hour

GSL  Education is looking for a SEN Tutor to work within a care centre the Oldbury area. We are looking to recruit kind and enthusiastic tutor  that have a passion for working with children with SEND, as well as other needs such as SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health).  The  We would like tutors to apply that have a genuine commitment to supporting the at risk, vulnerable and disengaged learners in a holistic and empathetic way.  We are seeking a qualified and experienced tutor to support a teenage student with SEN. The student is currently working at a Year 1 / 2 level and requires tailored assistance to enhance their learning experience.

This role :

3 days a week -  Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Shift times : 9am – 10am, must be able to do these hours as this is the best time for the learner to engage.

It is an ideal position for someone who currently works as a home tutor and would be given the opportunity to work with students on a long term basis. The tutor would need to drive or local to the centre.

Important :

  • Ability to provide regular breaks every 10 minutes.
  • Patience and skills to manage frustration and agitation effectively.
  • Experience working with children from a Looked After Child (LAC) background is preferred.
  • Feedback : Weekly updates on the student's progress are required.

Duties

  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Develop personalised lesson plans that align with the curriculum and address specific learning objectives.
  • Assess students’ progress regularly and adjust teaching methods accordingly to ensure effective learning.
  • Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other educators regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
  • Support students with special educational needs by implementing appropriate strategies and resources.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and feedback.

    • Requirements

  • Proven experience working with children in an educational setting is essential.
  • Knowledge or experience in special education is highly desirable.
  • Previous tutoring experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students and their families.
  • A genuine passion for educating and inspiring young learners.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards student development.
