JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor / Civil Engineering Cost Estimator and Planner who has previous industry experience in a similar Surveying role, a thorough understanding of financial reporting processes, excellent time management and negotiation skills.

Working as the Quantity Surveyor / Civil Engineering Cost Estimator and Planner you will join a well-established company, nearing their 30-year anniversary, offering a comprehensive range of services to the water, rail, and civil engineering industries across the UK & Ireland.

As the Quantity Surveyor / Civil Engineering Cost Estimator and Planner you will identify commercial risks and provide appropriate solutions / responses, negotiate and settle client and subcontract final accounts.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Quantity Surveyor / Civil Engineering Cost Estimator and Planner include :

  • Monitoring material and labour spend against budget
  • Compiling monthly cost value reports
  • Conducting comprehensive cost estimation and preparing accurate cost plans
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and risk management
  • Maintain positive monthly cash flow
  • Identify commercial risks and provide appropriate solution / response
  • Negotiation and settlement of client and subcontract final accounts
  • Preparation of valuations / applications for payment with supporting documentation in accordance with the contract
  • Close out financial account and retention releases
  • Submission and agreement of extension of time / loss and expense claims

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Civil Engineering industry experience
  • NEC experience an advantage
  • Previous experience as Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • MRICS Chartered Member (ideal)
  • Thorough understanding of financial reporting processes
  • Excellent time management and negotiation skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills (especially MS Excel)
