Job description

Job summary

The pharmacy co-ordinator will be responsible for :

  • Joint co-ordination of the BRI inpatient pharmacy
  • Sole co-ordination of Pharmacy Distribution / Medicines Optimisation services.

The role will be split 50 / 50 between the two service areas listed above.

Main duties of the job

  • Assist the pharmacy manager with the training of all staff, including encouraging and organising attendance on relevant recognised courses (NVQ, Buttercups / Bradford etc).
  • Assist with the recruitment of pharmacy staff in line with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of staff cover by being involved in annual leave approval and study leave.
  • Responsible for arranging regular destruction of controlled drugs with a representative of the Trust Board in attendance and maintaining monthly CD stock checks
  • Assist the pharmacy manager / operations manager and the pharmacy support services manager with monitoring workload and ensure workload is managed consistently throughout the day by the effective deployment of staff.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with GPhC
  • Accreditation in Final Accuracy Checking and Medicines Optimisation
  • Evidence of continued professional Developement
  • Desirable

  • In possession of a Management or Leadership qualification
  • A qualified NVQ / TAQA
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Recent NHS hospital pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician in a range of roles within pharmacy such as medicines dispensing, procurement and supply procedures and practices
  • Understanding of confidentiality and how to apply
  • Desirable

  • Experience of managing / supervising other pharmacy staff
  • Experience of writing standard operating procedures
