We are offering a unique and exciting opportunity to join our senior leadership as our Head of Employee Services.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to lead, motivate and inspire a dedicated team to deliver high-quality recruitment and workforce systems functions, and manage the contract with our outsourced payroll provider.

Main duties of the job

You'll also gain strategic experience, driving change in relation to our commitment to inclusive recruitment, and working in collaboration with external partners across the Greater Manchester system to scale-up and improve the efficiency of employee services.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in recruitment and workforce systems who is ready to step into a leadership position and make a real impact across our Trust. It is offered on a fixed-term basis for 6 months, due to the substantive postholder being successful in obtaining a career development opportunity of their own.

You will be part of a friendly, supportive, and enthusiastic HR senior leadership team, under the direction of our newly appointed Chief People Officer.

Job description

Job responsibilities

This is a senior role within the People and OD directorate, providing strategic and operational leadership to Recruitment and Workforce Systems Teams.

This role is the most senior expert in recruitment and workforce systems and is responsible for setting the strategic direction for these areas in alignment with local and national strategy and best practice as well as organisational strategy and objectives, with a focus on candidate attraction and inclusive recruitment and selection. They are also responsible for leading and managing high-performing Recruitment and Workforce Systems Teams, ensuring the achievement of key performance indicators and positive relations with employees and managers.

The postholder will need to complete regular audits on quality and compliance with legislation, regulations and local policies, and maintain appropriate processes for managing risks and ensuring continuous service improvement. They will produce reports for various internal and external stakeholders and provide assurances to board and sub-board level committees.

The postholder will work in collaboration with senior leaders and executive directors across corporate functions and care groups on recruitment and workforce matters, supported by the Resourcing Manager, Workforce Systems Team Leader, and Recruitment Partners aligned to our care groups, and responsible to the Associate Director of HR.

Person Specification

Education Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Master's degree level or equivalent experience
  • CIPD membership or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable evidence of recent continuing professional development

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing and leading teams.
  • Experience of leading service improvement
  • Experience of completing audits and learning from outcomes
  • Experience of setting strategic direction for recruitment and / or workforce systems.
  • oExperience of establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Desirable

  • oExperience of recruitment and workforce systems, TRAC, ESR and UKVI SMS.
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • oKnowledge of strategy and best practice relevant to recruitment and workforce systems.
  • oKnowledge of NHS employment check standards.
  • oKnowledge of immigration rules and UKVI guidance.
  • oKnowledge of agenda for change terms and medical terms and conditions.
  • oKnowledge of the Equality Act (2010) and its relevance to recruitment and selection.
