Head of Specialist Provision

Are you an energetic educator with a strong history of leadership, capable of enabling young people to think positively about their future pathway?

Do you take inspiration from supporting children in overcoming various barriers to learning?

A thriving Secondary School in Brent are in the process of opening up an in-house Specialist Provision, to cater for those students with significant barriers to their education, and thus require an experienced leader to head this up, joining them on a permanent basis, and as soon as possible.

Head of Specialist Provision – The School :

  • Newly developed Specialist Provision within a mainstream provision, functioning as a ‘School within a School’
  • Located in Neasden
  • Provision will be dedicated to meeting the complex needs of children in KS3 and KS4
  • Ambitious to provide an inspirational, bespoke education, setting the foundation for the future and ensuring their young people are ready for the world
  • Genuinely invest in their people, exploiting opportunities for collaborative, continual professional development, sharing of expertise and best practice
  • The School have a Sixth Form

Head of Specialist Provision – The Role :

  • Full-time, permanent role
  • Sociable hours of 0830 – 1620 Monday to Friday
  • Head of Specialist Provision
  • To act as a ‘Mini Headteacher’
  • To meet the varied and complex needs of disaffected pupils
  • To re-engage students with education
  • Foster a safe learning environment, free of stigma and negativity
  • Establish nurturing and supportive relationships
  • To liaise alongside the school’s SENCo to create a bespoke curriculum and individuated education
  • Blend of academic pursuits and fun-based activities
  • Head of Special Provision – Pre-Requisites :

  • Patient and nurturing disposition
  • History of Leadership role within SEN or education more generally
  • Confident and outgoing personality, whilst remaining capable of a professional persona
  • Understanding of GCSE curriculum and mark scheme
  • Experience working with Additional Needs advantageous to application
