The Head of Commercial - Fuel is a senior management role to develop and monitor the commercial activities and business opportunities in the fuel business in the UK.

Reporting into the Commercial Director you will have responsibility for the strategic development of the UK Fuels network acceptance and control of supply in the UK by working with the Head of Network.

Your key deliverables and responsibilities will be…

  • Maximise cost savings across the network by routinely reviewing the supply purchasing basket to maximise profitability and (re)negotiate contracts as required to ensure ongoing pricing and volume optimisation.
  • Strategically develop relationships with new / existing site groups.
  • Increasing availability of HGV, Adblue, Alternative Fuels sites for UKF customers via supply relationships.
  • Ensure the adherence of the Company Stock Policy by :  Delivering industry leading stock management across the network of sites in the UK Fuels Network to guarantee product availability while minimising risk and improving cost drivers.Ensuring the Company’s resellers, distributor, bunker customers and any sub-prime products adhere to the Company Stock Policy.Managing wholesale suppliers suspense balances, ensuring all accounts operate within agreed tolerances and supporting the stock management team by escalating reconciling differences within the senior management of the supplier. Reporting stock balances within the agreed time frequency and escalating any non-conformance. Managing pricing risk. This is performed by managing UK Fuels’ own internal customer balance. This weighted balance is derived from fuel purchases – consisting of spot, contracted, ex-rack, delivered-in and transactional purchase – sales and swaps.
  • Ownership, evaluation and compliance of the UK commercial deals in place and in particular the monitoring of performance v targeted thresholds to maximise pricing benefits including the need to liaise within Group (Sales, Commercial Pricing, Legal and Finance) as required.
  • Responsibility for developing, promoting and managing existing customers in the bunker channel.
  • Responsibility for the central management of UK supply contracts administration.
  • Seeking revenue growth opportunities within the UK Commercial activities
  • Review current KPI reporting and develop a suite of reports which highlight key areas of focus to manage and improve overall profitability and day-to-day cost management.
  • Support the Commercial Director with key UK Oil Co relationships

What do we expect of you?

  • Experience of working in a Commercial role is ideal however candidates from a finance background will be considered.
  • Strong analytical skills and commercially data-driven thinking.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on developing and motivating team members.
  • Influencing skills to deliver results from colleagues.
  • Product procurement experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Contract negotiation experience would be highly beneficial.
  • Fuel hedging experience would be useful but not essential.
  • Great communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
