SJP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Assistant Company Secretary to join our exceptional team. As a leading Wealth Manager, we are committed to delivering invaluable financial advice and services to our clients.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with all members of the Company Secretariat team, providing strategic governance advice and support to Directors and management within the St. James’s Place Group of companies. You will also have the chance to lead and support key boards and committees, with the delivery of compliance with governance, regulatory, and legal requirements.

What you'll be doing :

  • Provide full company secretarial and governance support for key boards and committees
  • Act as a subject matter authority and provide support and advice to the business in a Company Secretarial capacity.
  • Lead on the training and induction of new directors / NEDs, including assisting with any preparation for regulatory interviews.
  • Act as a key point of contact / relationship manager for Non-executive and Executive Directors and senior stakeholders in the business.
  • Identify new / proposed rules and guidelines in relation to governance and relevant regulatory requirements, assessing the impact of these and communicating them to the relevant audiences;
  • Assist with compliance with applicable legislation, regulations and governance guidelines including MAR and the UKLA’s Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules and Listing Rules.
  • Run the day to day interaction with the Group’s registrar (and other third-party suppliers) and leading projects that relate to Shareholder engagement.
  • Drive the development of more junior members of the team

Who we're looking for :

  • Qualified Chartered Secretary and / or commensurate legal qualification / experience with at least five years PQE.
  • Experience of working within the secretariat of a financial services organisational, ideally with FTSE 350 experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of UK corporate law, listing regime, FCA / PRA governance requirements and corporate governance codes
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to engage and communicate effectively in an inclusive manner with people at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
