Job description

Key Responsibilities :

  • Ensure new engineering personnel are familiarized with relevant procedures and company protocols.
  • Oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of all safety and anti-pollution systems, adhering to statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain standby equipment and systems in a state of readiness for emergency situations.
  • Conduct regular testing of standby systems in line with company procedures.
  • Immediately report any defects that may compromise vessel safety or pose a risk to the marine environment to the Master.
  • Assign roles to engineering department personnel in accordance with the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Investigate any non-conformances and implement corrective actions as agreed with the Master.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Oil Record Book and Engine Logbook.
  • Ensure the vessel complies with all aspects of the company's SMS.

Qualifications Required :

  • Minimum of Marine Engine Operator License (MEOL) certification.
  • Medical First Aid certification.
  • Advanced fire prevention and firefighting training.
  • Certification in personal safety and social responsibilities.
  • Training in personal survival techniques.
  • Elementary first aid certification for ships.
