ReOrbit is seeking a motivated Head of Software Engineering, SW Architect to join our HQ in Helsinki, Finland, or London, UK. We need an experienced SW architect with proactive leadership, strong communication skills, and people management experience. This role oversees the entire software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, and maintenance across all projects.

As the Head of Software Engineering, you will provide strategic vision, lead, and grow the software team. You will manage satellite end-to-end software, including the Dynamic Satellite Simulator for our new project, ensuring consistent SW architecture across platforms. This is an exciting chance to work on a project with major industry players, advancing space data technology.

Responsibilities

  • Define software requirements and specifications
  • Manage software V&V documentation
  • Design flight software, including functionalities, architecture, core services, apps, ICDs, and manuals
  • Coordinate with HW design team to ensure low-level SW and communication protocols are implementable within flight software
  • Define test plans and reports
  • Oversee the Dynamic Satellite Simulator design and overview

Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years in satellite flight software or similar space industry roles
  • Full lifecycle knowledge of satellite systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
  • Technical expertise in Linux, Visual Studio Code, NASA Core Flight System, RTEMS or VxWorks, Robot Framework, Ruby, Enterprise Architect
  • Technical leadership in high-level system software design
  • Understanding of hardware-software integration, CCSDS norms, lean design, agile tools (Jira), data analysis, and software project management
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

    Location

    This role can be based in Helsinki, Finland, or London, UK. We support relocation to Helsinki and integration into Finnish society. If based in the UK, you must have the right to work there and be willing to travel to Helsinki regularly.
