Field-Based Engineer - Job Description
About the Role
Our client is looking for a Field-Based Engineer to carry out the installation, repair, and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment at customer sites. This is a mobile role that involves travel and hands-on technical work in a variety of environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for :
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment
- Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs
- Managing and maintaining vehicle stock
- Accurately completing reports and documentation for internal processing and customer records
- Delivering excellent customer service while representing the company on-site
As the face of the business, the engineer must uphold high standards of professionalism and work towards meeting service targets, including timely attendance and first-time fix rates.
Requirements
Full UK driving licenceProven experience in fault finding, diagnosis, and repair within plant, automotive, or industrial machineryAbility to interpret technical manuals and CAD drawingsStrong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledgeGood understanding of Health & Safety regulationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf-motivated and enthusiastic, with a proactive attitudeCapable of working independently and as part of a teamFlexible and adaptable with a strong problem-solving approachBasic computer literacyFriendly, customer-focused approachDesirable Criteria
Awareness of LOLER and PUWER legislationNVQ qualification in electrical or mechanical engineeringPossession of a CSCS cardPrevious field service experienceThis role includes opportunities for ongoing training and development to support continued technical and professional growth.
The role is Monday to Friday, with 1 in 4 weekends on call. Salary 40- 42k (OTE 50- 55k)
