Electrical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading team in the food processing industry. Based on-site in Milton Keynes, this customer-facing role involves designing and developing advanced electrical systems for bespoke machinery, working collaboratively with engineering and sales teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and integrate electrical systems for specialized food processing equipment.
• Lead projects from conception to installation, ensuring accuracy and clear communication with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to meet customer needs and identify design improvements.
• Visit customer sites (20%+ travel) to analyze production processes, evaluate systems, and provide training.
• Develop electrical drawings, manuals, and procedures using AutoCAD / Draftsight.
• Troubleshoot electrical and control systems, ensuring seamless integration with customer manufacturing lines.
• Stay updated on industry trends and implement innovative solutions to maintain product leadership.
• Provide remote support via VPN and maintain an updated CAD library of electrical designs.

Skills & Qualifications

Degree or HNC in Electrical, Electromechanical, Robotics, Automation, or related discipline, or 5+ years of relevant experience.

Proven track record designing electrical systems for capital equipment or special-purpose machinery.

Experience with gearboxes, motors, PLCs, servo controllers, and safety devices.

Proficiency in AutoCAD / Draftsight and strong troubleshooting skills.

Hands-on approach with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Self-motivated, able to work autonomously in a small UK team with support from a US-based team.

Desirable Skills

Knowledge of food processing equipment design.

Programming or coding experience.

Understanding of factory production lines and systems.
