Job description

About the Role :

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Alternative Provision Tutor to provide high-quality education and support to students at Key Stage 3 and 4 who are currently in alternative provision settings. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who may face social, emotional, or behavioural challenges, and be passionate about making a difference in their lives.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Deliver engaging and personalised lessons to students across a range of subjects, tailored to their individual needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track students’ progress, providing regular feedback via our bespoke online platform.
  • Support other staff members, including special educational needs coordinators (SENCOs) and behavioural support teams, to ensure the holistic support of each student.
  • Promote the social and emotional well-being of students, encouraging personal growth and resilience.

Key Requirements :

  • Experience teaching Key Stage 3 and 4 students, particularly those who are part of an alternative provision.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students in alternative education settings.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of students.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to think on your feet and make adjustments to support students effectively.
  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE) or equivalent experience in an educational setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with a passion for supporting students who may face additional challenges.
  • Desirable :

  • Experience in alternative provision or working with students with additional needs.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed teaching practices.
  • Training in behavioural management or related qualifications.

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
