Job description

Head of Finance - Berlin, Germany (Working remotely from the UK) - Contract role 3-6 months

Job Summary :

As our Head of Finance , you will report to the CFO and oversee financial planning, budgeting, and performance analysis to support the growth of our innovative food brands. You’ll ensure sound financial strategy, optimize operational efficiency, and conduct risk management as we scale across markets. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in managing finances for multi-brand or franchise businesses.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Financial Strategy and Planning : Develop and implement financial strategies, forecasts, and plans to support the company's growth objectives. Collaborate with the executive team to develop long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Financial Management and Reporting : Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders, including investors and board members. Monitor financial performance and implement improvements to optimize financial operations.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control : Lead the budgeting process, including preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to enhance financial efficiency.
  • Fundraising and Investor Relations : Assist in fundraising efforts, including preparing investment materials and engaging with potential investors. Manage relationships with existing investors and provide regular updates on financial performance and business milestones.
  • Risk Management and Compliance : Develop and oversee financial risk management policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal financial policies. Oversee internal and external audits.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or CPA highly preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in finance, including at least 2 years in a leadership role, ideally within a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Proven track record in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Deep understanding of corporate finance, fundraising, and investor relations.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in financial tools and software, such as QuickBooks, Excel, and financial modeling applications.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly.
  • Collaborative mindset, with experience working across teams and influencing key stakeholders.
