Job description

The Recruitment Crowd are currently recruiting on behalf of our well known and industry-leading client based in the Hull area. We are looking for an experienced Class 1 Trampers Driver (General Haulage) to join the team.

Hours : Tramping shifts across Monday to Sunday, start times from 0400am (shifts can be up to 15 hours).

Pay Rate : £14.50 to £16.25 per hour PAYE + £25 night out allowance.

Location : Hull, HU9.

Job Type : Ongoing with an opportunity for permanent for the right candidate.

The role :

  • Transport curtainsided continental trailers from the ports in Immingham (CLDN, Stenaline, and DFDS) to various destinations across the UK.
  • Perform full strip-down of trailers as required.
  • Secure goods for export with proper strapping techniques.
  • Conduct multi-drop trailer deliveries as needed.
  • Reload trailers and return them to the port in Immingham.
  • Adhere to tachograph regulations and use the maximum hours legally allowed.
  • Start times vary based on job assignments, with potential starts as early as 04 : 00.

Requirements :

  • Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
  • Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
  • No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
  • Full understanding of WTD legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A safety-first mindset.
  • Possession of all necessary PPE, including trousers, t-shirts, hard hat with chin strap, safety specs, ear defenders, hi-viz vest or jacket, and safety boots (boots are mandatory).
  • Experience at Scunthorpe steelworks (British Steel site) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of tachograph regulations.
  • Be accustomed to nights out in the cab.
