Base pay range

Senior Accountant required for a dynamic accounts team within a leading Telford-based accountancy and audit firm, who also offer services in tax, business advisory and company secretarial areas. Headed by a really lovely Director, this is an exciting role for someone with experience in a small practice looking to progress quickly, and mentor junior staff.

This is ideally based full time in Telford, Shropshire - though we can negotiate the odd day working from home for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial management and accounting, with proficiency in various accounting software.

Duties

Prepare and analyse financial statements, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors.
Manage financial accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance and reconciliation.
Utilise accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, and Xero for efficient financial reporting.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accountants, fostering their professional development.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support strategic planning initiatives.
Conduct regular audits of financial processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; working towards or newly-qualified holding a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA)

Proven experience in financial services or a similar industry, with a focus on financial management and accounting principles.

Strong proficiency in accounting software.

Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

Ability to mentor and lead junior staff effectively while promoting a collaborative team environment.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.

Familiarity with accounts payable processes and best practices in financial accounting.
