Job overview

We welcome applications for the post of Specialty Doctor in Rheumatology, we are a progressive department who supports research and development.

This appointment will enhance the care of Rheumatology patients within outpatient and inpatient environments, assisting the consultant team and specialties nurses to provide a high quality and safe service that meets the needs of the Doncaster and Bassetlaw population. The post holder will be expected to work across all sites within DBTH

Main duties of the job

  • Examination, investigation and treatment of patients attending the Rheumatology Department.
  • Supervise other staff including junior doctors and specialist nurses.
  • Participation in the internal education activities of the Department including teaching nurses, medical students, junior doctors and other visitors to the Department.
  • Participation in the external educational activities, including meetings and courses hosted by the Department.
  • Participation in the research, audit and clinical governance activities of the Department.
  • Providing medical support to non-medical staff of the clinic.
  • Performance of administrative tasks relevant to Rheumatology (such as writing of letters to colleagues and patients, compiling data, development of clinic protocols).
  • Clinical liaison with other hospital departments, general practitioners and other agencies as required.
  • The post holder must work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital agreed planned activity for inpatient and outpatient services.

This is a great opportunity to be part of the Rheumatology Department who are seeking a Specialist Doctor to join a team of 4 consultants, Junior Drs, specialist nursing staff and fully functional wider MDT, supported by input from all associated specialties.

The post will be based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary with cross site working.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • MBchB / MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCP (or equivalent)
  • Completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty, or equivalent experience and competencies
  • Must have or be eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council at time of appointment and continue to hold a License to Practise.

  • Must be able to demonstrate clinical experience and competence in all aspects of rheumatology
