Job description
Micro IT Consultancy | Newcastle (Hybrid) We are a micro-sized IT consultancy operating in a traditional, well-established consulting environment. Our focus is on practical, reliable, and proven IT services, not hype or experimental technologies. Client trust, delivery quality, and long-term relationships define our success. As a small, lean organisation, we operate with direct decision-making, broad responsibilities, and close involvement in day-to-day operations. Leadership here means doing, not delegating from a distance. The Role We are seeking a resident Director to lead and grow the business. This is not a purely strategic or symbolic position. You will be actively involved in operations, client engagement, and execution, while shaping the company’s direction and growth. You will act as both business leader and senior operator, reflecting the realities of a micro consultancy. Location: Newcastle (Hybrid – flexible office/remote balance) Start Date: ASAP Annual Gross Salary: £65000 base + performance-related bonus Key Responsibilities Drive business growth through client acquisition, partnerships, and market positioning Act as the company’s external representative, handling visibility, PR, and key stakeholder relationships Build and maintain strong client relationships, from first engagement to long-term delivery Work closely with the team, prioritising work, coordinating delivery, and ensuring quality Oversee commercial, financial, legal, and compliance matters, working with external advisors where required Define and execute a pragmatic growth strategy, aligned with our consulting focus and market realities Lead and mentor a small team (currently up to ~20), fostering accountability and collaboration Identify and develop revenue opportunities in areas such as cybersecurity, cloud, and digital transformation, with a practical, client‑driven approach What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Director in IT related domain or a related technology services environment Demonstrated success in scaling or running small businesses, with strong commercial and operational judgement Comfortable combining strategy with hands‑on execution Strong communication, client‑facing, and stakeholder management skills Pragmatic, resilient, and adaptable mindset Relevant education or equivalent professional experience What We £65,000 base salary plus performance-based bonus Private health insurance Enhanced pension scheme Opportunity to acquire equity and participate directly in the company’s growth A leadership role with real influence, autonomy, and visibility This role suits a leader who understands the realities of micro companies and is motivated by impact rather than hierarchy.
