The Post :
The Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist in vaccination and immunisation will be a national source of specialised vaccination and immunisation related knowledge and will share this with a wide range of stakeholders inclusive of National Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP).
As a member of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate, the post-holder will be expected to provide expert clinical advice, guidance and support in response to vaccine related queries and adverse incidents, and to contribute to the development of national policy, business plans, guidance, resources and training materials relating to the vaccination programmes. They will also participate in the national delivery of vaccination related education and training to other staff through designated educational activities and will be responsible for the line management of the Clinical Nurse Specialist in vaccination and immunisation within the team.
The Candidate :
As a Registered Nurse, the post-holder will have extensive leadership and management experience at senior level with considerable expert practice in the speciality and evidence of relevant and ongoing professional development. They will have experience and / or a strong interest in risk management and the quality agenda. The post holder will be experienced in delivering immunisation training and / or delivery of an immunisation service. They will have experience in service planning, redesign projects and quality improvement projects both at local and national level. They will have excellent team working skills, effective written and oral communication, influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will participate in the vaccination and immunisation team daytime on call rota to provide an expert response to clinical queries and adverse events and responsibility for ensuring that all calls and emails received, advice given, and referrals made are accurately recorded.
