Job summary

The Herne Bay Ophthalmology Services is looking for a part-time Administrator to join the team.

Herne Bay Ophthalmology Services provides several Ophthalmology services to patients across Kent and Medway and have done for the last 14 Years. We are the only provider in the UK that offers same day cataract surgery, we provide a very successful Wet-AMD service along with general Ophthalmology clinics.

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic team player to join the Administration team. The job is very unique and all our current employees are extremely proud of all the services that we provide and this is something that we are looking for in you.

We don't require you to have any background in Ophthalmology but we do require you to be enthusiastic about learning and gaining knowledge about Ophthalmology.

We are looking for an Administrators to work16 hours a weekacross two days (Monday and Tuesday).

Main duties of the job

The main duties that we will require from you as an Ophthalmology Administrator;

  • Monitoring Patient call and recall systems
  • Booking all appointments for all services
  • Liaise with patients over the telephone / face to face
  • Deal with patient medical queries and signpost if necessary
  • Assist with maintaining stock levels
  • Unpacking of deliveries day to day
  • Extracting required data from correspondence and inputting into patient electronic healthcare record
  • Liaise with hospitals, clinicians and opticians
  • Filing
  • Scanning

Herne Bay Ophthalmology Clinic is a joint venture owned and run by a partnership consisting of the GP Practices in Herne Bay and a group of local Ophthalmic Surgeons. All services are based at Beltinge and Reculver Surgery, branch site of The Heron Medical Practice.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above) Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) Strong IT skills Clear, polite telephone manner Competent in the use of Office and Outlook Effective time management (Planning & Organising) Ability to work as a team member and autonomously Good interpersonal skills Problem solving & analytical skills Ability to follow policy and procedure
