Job summary

The MDT team within Cancer Services is currently looking for an MDT Coordinator to join their growing service. If you are a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual this is a fantastic opportunity for you to build your skills and knowledge within a fast-paced service and develop your career pathway with the NHS.

You will be providing 'behind the scenes' support to patients who have been referred to the hospital to exclude a diagnosis of cancer and will assist in improving the pathways of suspected and diagnosed cancer patients.

Main duties of the job

This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including facilitating and supporting MDT meetings and administrative duties to help guide the patient through the CWT pathway in line with national targets.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential as you will be required to liaise with staff at all levels associated with multi-disciplinary team working. You will need to be able to work well as part of a larger team as well as have the ability to work autonomously and be able to multi-task.

You should be able to demonstrate attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills and be able to manage changing priorities as they arise, in a calm and professional manner to ensure the smooth running and efficient service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

You will have a full and knowledge of national guidance for the Cancer Standards and their local application.

You will also have an excellent understanding of patient pathways across all tumour sites, to ensure that pathways are recorded accurately. You will track patients through their cancer pathway ensuring that they progress in a timely way ensuring they meet the national standard.

You will attend both weekly PTL and MDT meetings to discuss and track patients on their pathways. They will need to produce, update and circulate the required material for discussion

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to at least A Level / diploma level or comparable experience

Desirable

  • Demonstrable evidence of further (relevant) academic qualifications
  • Demonstrable evidence of recognised IM&T qualifications / training (minimum equating to ECDL)3
  • Experience

  • Familiarity with patient notes and data systems
  • IT experience
  • Collating and processing of information
