About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Violence and Aggression Reduction Training team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

Based at our hospital in Dewsbury, the successful candidate will be an experienced trainer responsible for delivering accredited Violence and Aggression Reduction training programmes in personal safety to meet statutory obligations.

This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.

Main duties

The post holder will provide specialist advice on personal safety and managing violence and aggression in the workplace. They will deliver a range of physical intervention and breakaway courses to clinical and non-clinical staff, plan classes, and deliver engaging training sessions using various learning approaches. They will maintain records for ESR and continuously develop courses based on feedback, audits, and evolving trends, legislation, and guidance from external bodies like HSE / CQC and internal policies.

Key Requirements

  • Be a role model and uphold professional standards in violence and aggression reduction management.
  • Develop and maintain professional links with other departments and organizations involved in personal safety.
  • Attend meetings to advise on personal safety and violence management.
  • Utilize effective verbal and communication skills to meet diverse learning styles.
  • Communicate and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Exhibit excellent presentation skills.
  • Support the Lead Trainer in engaging managers and overcoming barriers to training attendance.
  • Support the development of VART action plans with complex and sensitive information under supervision.
  • Deputise for the lead trainer as required.
  • Assist in developing the VART project.
  • Act as the first point of contact for trainee queries.
