Social, Emotional and Mental Health – Support work – September
Prospero are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school near Stockport, supporting students with additional learning needs and social, emotional and mental health issues.
You need to hold experience of working with young people this post will focus on encouraging children to engage with the basics of the curriculum, and dealing with behavioural challenges.
You will needto be able to demonstrate skills relating to children who have barriers to learning, including additional learning needs.
You will be able to communicate and deal with pupils in a calm but firm manner in small groups or on a one to one basis, both in school, ensuring that every student is making progress in line with their ability.
You will ideally have a wealth of experience of working with pupils who can demonstrate challenging behaviours.
The position is open to all experienced and those who have a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school would look at either extending the contract or offering a permanent position.

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in a similar setting / SEMH / PRU / behaviour unit
LEVEL 2 Teaching Assistant / or equivalent and above is preferable
GCSE Maths and English and Computer literate
Up to date safeguarding training issued in the last year ( essential, however training can be provided)
Up to date prevent awarenes & FGM training issued in the last 3 years (essential, however, training can be provided)
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST :
Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional child related references that cover at least the last two years
