Role overview

Role : Lead Business Development Officer

Reports to : Business Development Manager

Hours : Full time

Location : Cheadle Royal Business Park / Hybrid / Agile Working

Key Relationships : C-Suite, Management Team, All Colleagues, Stakeholders and the Membership.

This is a key role which sits within our Marketing and Business Development Team. As Lead Business Development Officer, you will be a key team player, assist in developing other team members and a driving force behind the growth of the Credit Union. Your role will involve developing and executing a membership-led contact strategy, fostering strong relationships, and generating leads to meet targets set by the Board of Directors.Additionally, you will work on brand development and building awareness of the brand, providing strategic input to the marketing strategy. This role involves frequent travel and requires high level of flexibility to meet the business needs and stakeholder engagements.

Key responsibilities

Leadership

  • Providing delegated support to the Chief Business Development Officer and Business Development Manager.
  • Coaching and developing the Business Development Officers.
  • Working across different areas of business, with Board members and Senior Management.

Lead Generation & Prospecting

  • Identify and research potential stakeholder, partnerships, and new market opportunities.
  • Generate qualified leads through research, networking, referrals, email campaigns, and online platforms.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of potential stakeholders.
  • Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and manage ongoing stakeholder communications.
  • Ensure high levels of stakeholder satisfaction to encourage continued opportunities and referrals.
  • Strategic Planning

  • Lead in the development and execution of business development strategies aligned with No1 CopperPot’s goals and objectives.
  • Identify emerging trends and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.
  • Growth

  • Create and present compelling membership proposals and pitches to potential members and stakeholders.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly and annual targets.
  • Market Research & Analysis

  • Conduct market intelligence to identify gaps, opportunities, and potential threats.
  • Analyse member feedback and sector trends to suggest product or service improvements.
  • Work closely with marketing, product, and operations teams to align business development efforts.
  • Provide regular reports on progress, forecasts, and KPIs to senior management.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing and promotional materials as needed.
  • Representing the Credit Union

  • Represent the Credit Union at networking events and conferences.
  • Promote No1 CopperPot’s brand, values, and mission to external audiences.
  • Skills required

  • Degree or suitable relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in a Business Development, sales or customer facing role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating marketing content and enhancing member experience through communications.
  • An industry specific knowledge of financial services / credit unions.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, marketing, digital and social platforms.
  • Full Driving License.

    Employee benefits

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, between 8 : 00 am and 5 : 00 pm. We’re currently operating with a hybrid working approach, with staff working from home three days per week and at the office two days per week
  • 21 days annual leave entitlement pro rata, increasing by 1 day each year, capped at 26 days. In addition, we give all our staff a day off on their birthday
