DataVita own and operate Scotland’s largest, energy efficient data centres from our sites in Chapelhall and Glasgow. We also operate in third party data centres in the UK delivering services to our ever-growing customer base. From all of these sites we deliver high quality co-location products and innovative, agile cloud services. Our co-location products are unlike anything available in Scotland today and take a fresh approach to providing data centre services. Our data centres are “Cloud Enabled” to allow customers to easily mix traditional IT infrastructure with flexible, on-demand private / public cloud services as needed and monitor, manage and report on everything from a single portal.

Job Position Summary :

We are looking for someone to join our Data Centre Engineering team to complete statutory and non-statutory maintenance to our critical M&E Infrastructure at our owned sites. The role involves routine and unplanned maintenance of the critical and non-critical M&E infrastructure along with provisioning IT services to meet our internal and external customer requirements. The provisioning of IT services could be at any of our operational sites. All works are recorded via our industry leading management portals which include CAFM, DCIM and Service Management tools. These duties are required to be carried out in line with the constraints imposed by our contractual SLAs. The Datacentre is operational 24x7x365 therefore the post will include an on-call element.

Key Responsibilities :

Complete statutory and non-statutory maintenance of critical M&E assets

Complete condition monitoring of critical M&E and IT assets

Respond to issues in an efficient manner to maintain business SLA’s

Complete and document fault finding as part of root cause analysis

Provision IT services following an approved workflow

Report and track issues via the appropriate management tool

Keep management and other departments up to date at all times

Promote and adhere to health and safety requirements

Assist Operations and Security Staff as required

Person Specification :

The individual will have a keen eye for detail and a pro-active attitude towards their duties. Will have good communication skills, is able to work as part of a team as well as managing their own workload and time management. Keen to learn - through on the job training, formal training and personal study.

Experience and Skill Requirements :

Previous experience of working within a Facilities organisation operating as an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer

Good communication skills – both written and verbal

Attention to detail

Ability to remain focussed under pressure

Ability to work on own or as part of a team

Ability to follow detailed instructions

Good time management skills

Ability to diagnose and prioritise problems

Professional working attitude

Previous experience of working in a Facilities organisation within a critical environment

Previous experience of working in a Data Centre

Knowledge of High Voltage systems and networks

Knowledge of M&E statutory maintenance legislation

Education / Qualifications :

HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

C&G 2382 - Requirements for Electrical Installations

C&G 2391 – Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing

C&G 2392 - Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification

C&G 7189 - Refrigeration and Air-conditioning

C&G 6188 - Heating and Ventilating
