2+ fte Permanent, full-time or part-time posts (minimum in our Buxton, Chesterfield and Denby bases

Following a positive review of Derbyshire Educational Psychology Service (EPS) and its contribution to Derbyshire residents, school and families, we are pleased to advertise at least two full-time equivalent educational psychologist posts. We are looking for talented colleagues to bring their enthusiasm and skills to the service to deliver our service vision and mission :

Making a Difference : Enabling positive change through listening, optimism, and insight

Derbyshire EPs have positive and well-established relationships within the county and our professional contributions are valued by partner agencies. We offer a wide range of commissioned work and have a strong traded early intervention offer to schools via a subscription model. In the academic year 2024-2025 the service has for example been commissioned to deliver :

  • Parental workshops delivered through the Derby City and Derbyshire Neuro Hubs
  • Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools programme (PINS)
  • On-going support for EBSA and removing barriers to education
  • Emotional Literacy Support Assistant training and reflective supervision (ELSA)
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) reflective supervision
  • Mighty Creatives reflective supervision
  • Collaborative support for Adoption East Midlands practitioners
  • Collaborative systemic working and complex case support with Derbyshire Virtual School

The child-centred and holistic approach to our work ensures strong working relationships with educational settings and parents. We use listening skills, an optimistic outlook and psychological insight to problem solve and make a difference. We are valued for the impact of the high-quality casework, training, therapeutic work, systems work and research which we carry out to enable positive change and improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

We are a strong, supportive team, with professional autonomy. We use a fair, equitable, and transparent system to allocate work across the service. All EPs are given protected time to develop our service, demonstrating commitment to distributed leadership and innovation. The service provides a comprehensive induction process to ensure a warm welcome to all new starters. Successful candidates will enjoy a range of CPD and co-working opportunities, access to regular supervision, opportunities to engage in projects, dedicated administrative support and pay progression.

The EPS has excellent links with regional training courses which provides opportunities for further extending professional development. Applications are welcome from fully qualified EPs looking for new challenges, and those in their second or final year of training. All qualified candidates must be registered to practice with the Health and Care Professionals Council.

The hours of the post are flexible, if required, and may be located in our Buxton, Chesterfield or Denby offices. We usually offer a starting salary for newly qualified EPs at Soulbury EP Scale A point 4. For qualified EPs currently in employment salaries will be matched wherever possible. Previous SPA awards will be honoured.
