Job summary
The MRI department has recently undergone and is continuing to undergo an extensive equipment replacement programme, seeing all its MRI scanners replaced with new state of the art scanning technology. The department has recently installed a Siemens Sola in a new dedicated purpose-built area with a dedicated anaesthetic room, bed bays, reporting work areas and separate cannulation areas and will see an increase in the number of awake and GA paediatric imaging. In addition to this the department has undergone the replacement of the 3T system with the installation of a Siemens Vida d. In addition to this there is a GE HDX Twinspeed scanner within the department. Also on the John Radcliffe site there is a fourth MRI scanner dedicated to Neuro scanning and is situated in the Neuroradiology department in the West Wing of the hospital. This scanner is in the process of being replaced and by the end of September see a new Philips Ingenia Ambition installed. With the new technology the department is now able to set up links with the University MRI scanning department seeing new and exciting research into scanning techniques and research.
Main duties of the job
The department performs an extensive range of investigations to include a wide range of Neuro, Ortho and Body Imaging.
The OUH Trust MRI department extends to both the NOC and Churchill sites with different specialty scanning to include MSK and oncology. The scanners on these sites are also in the process of being replaced to see a Siemens Sola and Vida at the NOC and GE Architect and Artist at the Churchill.
The department operates 7 days a week between the hours of 0800 and 2000 and there is a requirement to participate in the on-call service between the hours of 2000 and 0800.
The post would suit a Radiographer with wide general experience in MRI who has the enthusiasm to develop their clinical and educational role in MRI. Training will be provided in all aspects of
