The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will provide a comprehensive, efficient, high-quality 2nd & 3rd line technical support service for all aspects of our clients network and related technologies.

The post holder will play a key role in supporting and executing infrastructure projects, including the planning, implementation, and post-migration support of complex domain migrations, ensuring minimal disruption and seamless integration.

The post holder will provide specialist technical knowledge on aspects of infrastructure, providing advice and guidance to members of the core Infrastructure team, other technical colleagues, service users, and other stakeholders as appropriate.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will work independently with minimal supervision alongside other members of the technical teams

Job Description :

Support the technical execution of domain migrations, including Active Directory and related services, ensuring proper integration with existing systems and applications.
Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing domain migration activities with minimal impact on business continuity.
Validate user access, group policies, and security settings post-migration to ensure functionality and security.
Ensure thorough testing of migrated domains, promptly resolving any issues identified during testing phases.
Support in managing and troubleshooting technical issues that may occur during and after the migration process.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of migration processes, configurations, and changes to facilitate ongoing support and compliance.
Provide a high-quality, efficient third-line technical support service for all aspects of the core network, server infrastructure, and related technologies, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
Use the call logging system to record investigations and work undertaken, ensuring accurate, up-to-date records for the team.
Communicate complex IM&T issues effectively to the Head of Digital Services and staff at all levels.
Liaise with third-party suppliers and support providers to ensure solutions meet service levels and reduce operational impact.

Experience :

Previous experience of working within an IT Support department for a minimum substantial period of time at 2nd -3rd line level

Working knowledge of VMWare

Good understanding of Enterprise wireless Infrastructure and associated technologies

Understanding of Local Area Infrastructure and Wide Area Infrastructure and how they interconnect

Worked with 3rd Party Suppliers

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities :

Good understanding of Network architecture and the ability to diagnose problems down to module level where necessary

Ability to install new hardware

Ability to support applications

Familiar with Microsoft Active Directory environments

Ability to document technical procedures / standards

Understand the process of imaging
